The Design Process: Establishing Our Development Technique
Introduction and Overview
First: Here's the two page overview of our course. For the more extended explanation see the full "Course Outline" link above.
Here's the handout for our initial diagnostic assignment, and the problem solving assignment that we'll begin with.
- Lets begin our exploration of the web design process we will establish the basic idea behind:
-
How HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language...the language that is used to make web pages)
- How we will solve desgn problems using a clearly structured development process
Here is a link the introductory slides used to describe our initial group project, as well as the design process that we will use to complete this project. These slides describe the process used. They also lay out the requirements of the first introductory project/group exercise.
Content Input: Relative and Absolute References
When developing web sites one of the most important ideas that we need to learn is the difference between absolute and relative references. The following two links provide an explanation of the difference between these two concepts. They explains why it is important to understand the way that folders are set up in any web. Understanding these ideas helps make sure that links to images and other pages work.
Absolute and Relative Reference Lab Assignment
After we have worked through the presentation material you need to complete the following "Lab and Letter Assignment." Before you do so though you should learn a bit about how to create your web pages in DreamWeaver. To do so you should:
- Complete the 2 following tutorials contained in DreamWeaver MX help menu:
- Using Tables To Design A Page Layout, and
- Image Alignment and Image Maps Tutorial
Files needed for these and all other tutorials may be found on school computers in the CALC Folder, under Pickup(the pickup folder)== >TGJ Jones.
- Having completed these two tutorials go on to complete the Relative Referencing Lab and Assignment (to download the assignment to print it at home right mouse button click and select "Save As")
